During the Blackwood River Arts Trail the Balingup Arts and Cultural Hub (BACH) presents to you the Australian Baroque for a morning coffee concert with music played on instruments of the period.
Featuring works by Vivaldi and Handel, the program celebrates the glory of Spring and depictions of the seasons in the visual arts.

MOZART REQUIEM with the UWA Choral Society

The first UWACS concert of 2025 features Mozart’s Requiem and Rutter’s Requiem – a double requiem delight, as well as local composer Iain Grandage’s Why Do We Exist?
Sunday, April 6th, join the UWA Choral Society, Australian Baroque our radiant soloists Bonnie de la Hunty, Ruth Burke, Tom Buckmaster and Devon Lake plus the inimitable organist Alessandro Pittorino at the grand organ of Winthrop Hall for an afternoon of sublime music.

Rutter Requiem – Swathe yourself in the tuneful and consoling music of Rutter’s Requiem.
Grandage – Why do we exist? – Experience this serene choral piece by acclaimed Australian composer Iain Grandage.

Mozart Triple Piano Concerto
Join us for this incredible, once in a lifetime performance of Mozart’s Concerto for three pianos in the dazzling surrounds of the Goverment house Ballroom.
Performed on replicas of instruments from the time, the fortepiano our incredible soloists are: Dr Geoffrey Lancaster AO, James Huntingford and Jake Smith.
Also on the program is an array of Mozart’s greatest works for string orchestra and fortepiano.

Christmas with The Giovanni Consort & Australian Baroque
The final concert of the Giovanni Consort’s 30th anniversary seasons sees its long-awaited return collaboration with WA’s period-instrument performance gurus, Australian Baroque.
Joyous music by Bach sits alongside popular carols in this sparkling program featuring the composer’s evergreen Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 alongside his little-known Mass in A Major.
A perfect way to relax this December and usher in the festive season with family and friends. This performance is 60 minutes in duration with no interval and is followed seasonal refreshments.

Join us for an evening of Baroque splendor with West Australian Opera Principal Artist Brigitte Heuser, as West Australian Opera and Australian Baroque Orchestra unite to explore life's beauty in resilience.
The recital Le Belle Immagini; tranquillità e tumulto (The beautiful image; tranquilty and turmoult) opens with Vivaldi's"Sovente il sole" from "Andromeda Liberata" which foreshadows the theme that life rejuvenates after a challenge.
Handel's "Ombra mai fu" and Glück's "Le belle Immagini" relish the moment to appreciate peace and calm before disturbance.
Aria's from Vivaldi's Juditha Triumphans and Farnace vividly depict the depth of human experience—from fragility to fury. Handel's duet "Bramo aver mille vite" from Ariodante and aria "Dopo Notte" celebrate overcoming adversity and challenge, showcasing Brigitte Heuser's coloratura vocal prowess.

Mozart’s Piano Quartets
Mozart’s Piano Quartets
With the internationally acclaimed fortepianist and Patron of Australian Baroque, Dr Geoffrey Lancaster AO, we present Mozart’s two sublime Piano Quartets KV 478 and KV 479—a form of chamber music invented by Mozart himself. Containing keyboard writing that was considered unplayable in Mozart’s time, these magnificent works are universally regarded not only as revealing the composer at his very best, but also as the ‘jewel in the crown’ of Mozart’s fortepiano chamber music.
Also on the program is Mozart’s rarely heard and inspiringly beautiful Rondo in F major KV 494 for solo fortepiano, written only seven days after Mozart had penned his second piano quartet.
This performance takes place within the Brett Whitely exhibition at the John Curtin Gallery.

Masterclass in Performing Baroque Music
Australian Baroque Artistic Director and violinist Helen Kruger gives a masterclass in playing music in the Baroque style.
Three musicians will participate in this hour-long masterclass, chosen to present a varied range of instruments and Baroque music.
The audience is open to all, with both musicians and music appreciators encouraged to attend. Gain fascinating insight into performing music written during the Baroque Period (1600 to 1750) from one of Australia's leading specialist musicians of the period.

Australian Baroque is joined by the sensational London-based baroque cellist Kinga Gaborjani, who brings a lifetime’s experience and dazzling technique to the interpretation of eighteenth century repertoire.

MASTERCLASS WITH CELLIST KINGA GABORJANI
With the support of the City of Swan, we are delighted to present this FREE MASTERCLASS with guest cellist and music educator from London, Kinga Gaborjani.
This is an open masterclass, so audience members are very welcome. This event is free thanks to the City of Swan support.

About Kinga:
Kinga Gáborjáni, originally from Hungary, studied baroque cello with Jennifer Ward Clarke and viola da gamba with Richard Campbell at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She gained her postgraduate degree with distinction in 2007.
Kinga performs with many UK period instrument orchestras with whom she has toured all over the world. Since 2008, she has played with the English Baroque Soloists, under Sir John Eliot Gardiner, since 2022 as a principal cellist and gamba player.
She was co-principal cellist for the English Touring Opera for 8 years and she has been guest principal cellist with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the English Concert.
She is part of chamber groups and viol consorts, as well as giving recitals as a soloist.
She also plays the Lirone, an instrument with 14 strings, used by Monteverdi and other 17th century composers in operatic works.
Kinga also works as a mindset coach, helping fellow musicians cope with performance anxiety as well as non-performers develop in confidence.
